1 Final Exam Specifications

2 Your final exam will consist of three sections: A) Reflection, B) An achievement test and C) Appendix. You must submit your exam NO LATER THAN 13 TH May, 2016, Friday.

3 A) Write a cover letter in which you reflect on the Testing and Evaluation in English Course you have taken. You can answer the following questions in your reflection. What is the most important thing you have learned in this course? Why? What is the least important thing you have learned in this course? Why? To what extent do you think you can transfer the information you have learned here into your teaching? Do you think we should add or take out an item in the syllabus of this course? Why? Do you think this project is helpful to you? Why?

4 B) Develop an achievement test for pre-intermediate level (A2 level) for 7 th /8 th graders. The questions of your test must correspond to the level and specifications provided below. C) Append the answer key, scoring criteria, and original texts.

6 READING Task Type No. of Items Task Format True-False: a factual text (e.g. a brochure, a guide, etc). Scanning for specific information 6 A modified authentic longer text (1-2 pages with pictures, charts, subtitles, etc.) 6 items with Right/Wrong/Doesn’t Say choices CEFR Descriptor: Identifies specific information in simpler written texts containing the highest frequency vocabulary such as brochures and short newspaper articles. You should photocopy the original texts and append them

7 LISTENING Task Type No. of Items Task Format Gap-filling: listening to identify, understand and interpret information 6 A neutral or informal monologue Six gaps to fill with one to three words or numbers, plus an integrated example. CEFR Descriptor: Identifies the main point of TV news and/or reports about daily topics Append the listening texts

8 GRAMMAR & VOCABULARY Task Type No. of Items Task Format Open cloze: focus on both grammar and vocabulary 10 A modified text (around 100 words) with 10 gaps. CEFR Descriptors: -Has a limited repertoire of basic language and short memorized phrases which enables him/her to deal with everyday situation. -Has a sufficient vocabulary repertoire for coping with simple survival needs You should submit the answer key with all possible correct answers for the gaps.

9 WRITING Task Type No. of Items Task Format Informal letter: framed prompt 1 Students are asked to write an informal letter using the content provided. CEFR Descriptor: Writes short simple messages by using simple connectors Append a rubric to be used for scoring (analytic or holistic)
