Helping Verbs Used with another verb to help (duh!) If you see an “ing” ending, it may have a helping verb. –I am running.

Helping Verbs Sometimes “not” separates the helping verb from the main verb. –Sue is not eating.

Helping Verbs There can be as many as three helping verbs in addition to the main verb. –The child must have been looking for his coat.
