4 Seite 4 Some key guiding questions Can land be dealt with like other resources or – from an economic perspective – forms of capital?  in many cases, yes. What are the consequences? Does it attract particular meanings, sentiments, interests, acquisition strategies or social relations? Yes, but how to unfold and use this different meanings in an appropriate manner? What is particular to the production and dissemination of knowledge and capacity building about “land”? What knowledge can we use? Beyond the “land grabbing” debate, what is the reason for development policy’s interest in land policy and land management? …

9 Seite 9 Global Program Responsible Land Policy Aproach: Land rights are more secured through: improvement of the frame conditions for land policy and introduction of new or improved procedures and mechanisms in land management and land administration. 15 Seite 15 Final remarks We observe currently a momentum in the land sector This presents considerable advantages for development cooperation But of course, also challenges (e.g. finding common ground among different institutions)
