4 “W”s and the Academic Calendar East Los Angeles College www.elac.edu It is your responsibility to drop a course you no longer wish to take. When you drop/withdraw a course after the first drop deadline, a “W” will appear on your transcript which means you Withdrew from the course or were dropped by the instructor. A “W” counts as an attempt, and you only get three attempts at any one course. When you have made three attempts at a class, with any combination of W, D, F, NC, or NP grades, you will not be able to register for the class again at ELAC or anywhere in the LACCD except through a formal petition process.
