7 EVALUACIONES Reading Assessments: 12% students will read authentic fables, children’s books, current events, magazine articles, dialogues and short stories. Writing Assessments: 12% students will complete short responses, journal entries, creative writing assignments and unit end compositions. Speaking Assessments: 12% students will be completing a variety of speaking activities throughout the school year. Students will always be notified of speaking assessments dates in advance. Listening Assessments: 12% These assignments include textbook listening activities, responses to videos and media clips and comprehension activities paired with the educational series “Extr@.” Tests: 32% Quizzes:15% Homework/Classwork: 5%

8 Studying vocabulary and grammar concepts independently Listening to Spanish audio for listening assignments Visiting websites for practice (located on class School Fusion page) Using Spanish whenever the opportunity presents itself Preparing for speaking assessments Here is what you should see at home on a regular basis:

9 How can I help my student improve their Spanish language skills?

10 How can I help my student improve language skills at home? Have your child read aloud to you in the new language Encourage them to teach you and family members their new language on a daily/weekly basis Encourage them to use phrases, new language with multi-lingual peers & neighbors Check the School Fusion page for specific enrichment resources and assignments posted by teacher Quiz your child using their notes

11 La JARRITA de CANICAS Vocabulario Útil: Jarra = jar Jarrita = little jar Canicas = marbles THE GOAL To fill the jar with marbles for a class reward. MARBLES are earned by speaking spontaneously in Spanish in class with classmates and with Sra. Bruckschen. It is a collective effort.
