The same conversion rules can be applied to rates such as 50 miles per hour. The car is traveling 293 feet per second.

6 Tobey & Slater, Basic College Mathematics, 6e6 Converting Temperatures In the metric system, temperature is measured on the Celsius scale. Water boils at 100°C and freezes at 0°C. In the Fahrenheit system, water boils at 212°F and freezes at 32°F. To convert Celsius to Fahrenheit, we can use the formula where C is the number of Celsius degrees and F is the number of Fahrenheit degrees. F = 1.8  C + 32,
