6 University Transfer – Associate in Arts degree (AA) Involves a broad range of general education requirements, including 36 credits of communications, mathematics, humanities, natural science, and social science requirements, and 24 elective credits for a total of 60 credit hours. Equivalent to the first 2 years of study at the University level (Freshman and Sophomore levels). Earn your AA Degree at FKCC and transfer to any of the 11 Public Universities more than 25 Independent Colleges and Universities! *(except limited access programs)

8 University Requirements- AA Degree Foreign Language Requirement: For undergraduate admission to a state university, students must have earned 2 years in a foreign language at the high school level. If a student did NOT complete this requirement while in high school, the student must complete 8 credit hours in one foreign language at FKCC prior to transferring. CLAS Requirement: All students seeking an Associate in Arts or a baccalaureate degree from a State of Florida institution are required to satisfy the CLAS requirement. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 in two college level math classes - for instance at least a B and a C. Cumulative GPA of 2.5 in English Composition I and II - for instance at least a B and a C

20 Before You Can Register… All students must have test scores on file that are less than 2 years old (ACT, SAT, or CPT) Listed are the scores that will place a student at college level for the ACT and SAT: ACT: English= 17, Reading= 18, Math= 21 SAT: Verbal= 440, Math= 480 Transfer students must have transcripts from ALL colleges attended on file and evaluated. This will determine whether or not the transfer student will need to take a placement exam. If you are still unsure about what classes to take, please call Advising Services at 305-809-3196

21 What are Preps? College Preparatory Courses are: The college placement exams determine if your academic skills are currently at college level (in reading, sentence skills, arithmetic, and algebra) Your scores may indicate that you need a refresher or some additional academic review to bring your skills up to college level in a particular area. Listed below are specific Prep-level courses students may place into: ◦ Reading I ◦ Reading II ◦ Communication Skills ◦ Basic Math ◦ Introduction to Algebra

23 Scheduling Considerations First determine your preparatory course needs (use your highest scores from any/all tests taken within 2 years). Completion of all preparatory needs prior to earning 12 college level credit hours is required. Meaning that all students who place in prep courses will need to take them within their first semester. Only three attempts permitted for any course (withdrawals count). Refer to Total Attempts Rule in FKCC Catalog. Third attempts at courses charge full cost at Out-of State rates ($338.42 per credit). Contact your Academic or Program Advisor at least once per semester.
