4. POINT OPPORTUNITIES Volunteers needed for the Fire & Ice Festival in downtown Rochester the weekend of January 22 nd – 24 th. Please email volunteer@oakgov.com to sign up and fill out waivervolunteer@oakgov.com The current open shifts are: Saturday January 23 12pm – 3pm : 13 volunteers 2:30pm – 5:30pm: 15 volunteers 5pm – 8:30pm : 8 volunteers Sunday January 24 9:30am – 12:30pm : 15 volunteers 12pm – 3pm: 16 volunteers 2:30pm – 5:30pm : 19 volunteers 10:30am – 1:30pm: 3 volunteers for the dog sled area

POINT OPPORTUNITIES  Hamlin Elementary International Fair  FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 26TH, 2016  6pm-8pm in Hamlin Gymnasium  Students needed to sing, dance, play an instrument, or do any other performance relevant to their heritage or culture  Can be single or in groups  Students must fill out form by February 1st to participate

POINT OPPORTUNITIES  SAT Khan Academy and Drop In Support  Junior students are practicing for the SAT using Khan Academy diagnostic tests and practice tests  Attend after school drop-in sessions to assist fellow students navigate the Khan Academy site  MONDAYS 2:45pm-3:45pm in the DL Lab  FEBRUARY 1ST TO MARCH 28 TH  5 students per session needed  This study session is open to any and all students

8. POINT OPPORTUNITIES  Boosters Gala Event at Twin Lakes Golf Club  SATURDAY MARCH 12TH  12pm-3pm  Students needed to set up banquet center, unload cars, decorate tables, arrange raffle items, etc.

10. NHS SCHOLARSHIPS!  Applications for the 2015–16 National Honor Society (NHS) Scholarship program have opened. The National Association of Secondary School Principals (NASSP), parent organization of the National Honor Society, has awarded NHS Scholarships since 1946, providing more than $12 million in scholarships to outstanding NHS members.  Applications and further information are available in the NHS Scholarship section of the website. NHS Scholarship  Student applications and all recommendations must be completed online. The deadline for student applications is February 16, 2016. You and your principal must submit recommendations and certify applications by February 24, 2016.

11. NHS SCHOLARSHIPS! Any eligible senior member may apply for the scholarship. ●The scholarship criteria include the four pillars of NHS, as well as financial need, demonstrated by eligibility for participation in the National School Lunch Program. ●The number of scholarships awarded will increase from 200 to 300 national semifinalists. All semifinalists will receive $1,500 scholarships. Twenty-five national finalists will receive an additional $1,500—for a total of $3,000. The national winner will now receive a total of $15,500. ●NEW: NHS Scholar Dollars is a new scholarship search tool that has been launched. ○Visit www.nhs.us/scholardollars and enter pillars most aligned to your accomplishments. SEND US PICTURES!  If you have any pictures from any NHS events, send them to Mrs. Harris or tweet them @roc_nhs  Sign-up sheets are available in the counseling office.  NEW: First 5 points are due Wednesday January 20th, 2016 and remaining 5 are due before the end of 2 nd semester.  Turn them in to Divya Iyer (stapled with name) or to Mrs. Messing in the counseling office  Dues are $10 - please turn them in to Mrs. Messing  2nd semester they go up to $15
