3 Inova Fairfax Hospital Volunteer Office : 703-776-3447 Eligibility The teen program is designed for student age 15 to 17 years old. Current or graduating high school students who turned 18 during their senior year should apply through the teen program. All volunteers must commit to at least one 3–4 hour shift per week. The hospital volunteer program cannot accommodate volunteers who need to accumulate just a few hours of volunteer time toward a school or community-service requirement 2013 sessions Teens are accepted into the volunteer program only twice a year—once in June and once in September. 4 Inova Loudoun Hospital Volunteer Office: 703-858-8094 Junior program (for high school students 16 and older) Commitment: A minimum commitment of at least once a week for a 3-4 hour shift during the school year, and twice a week for a 3-4 hour shift during the summer. 5 Inova Fair Oaks Hospital Volunteer Office: 703-391-3659 Our volunteer hotline at 703-391-3659 has general information to assist you. Currently we are accepting applications for adult and teen volunteers (16 years and older) to share their energy and commitment in our special Thrift Shop, located at 9683 Fairfax Boulevard in Fairfax. We also have weekday opportunities available in our hospital, Monday – Friday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please apply if you are available during these hours. Our adult and student volunteers are asked to commit to a minimum of 6 months or 60 hours of service. There is no “summer only” program. 6 Fauquier Health Fauquier Health offers a Junior Volunteering program year round, with application opportunities twice a year, in early spring for our summer program and late summer/early fall for our fall program. Those interested in applying must be at least 14 years of age at the time they submit their application and must maintain a minimum of a C average in school. 8 Red Cross Youth Volunteer (Prince William County) Purpose: The American Red Cross educates, encourages, and empowers youth to be role models in their communities through the sharing of the mission and principles of the Red Cross. The youth team is a community of teens ages 13-18, who volunteer with the Red Cross Key Responsibilities: Participate in service projects, special events, fundraising and leadership opportunities around your community. 9 Veterans Affairs Medical Centers Student Volunteer Program Student volunteers are an important part of the VA medical centers' treatment team. They will receive valuable experience and training which will benefit them in applying for college and jobs. The James H. Parke Memorial Youth Scholarship Award provides scholarship opportunities to students who volunteer at VA medical centers (your local VA health care Voluntary Service staff has current nomination criteria). The VA Voluntary Service program offers students excellent opportunities for: – exploring health care career options; – gaining experience in a health care environment; – learning new skills; making new friends; – qualifying to be nominated for James H.
