2 KNUTSFORD ACADEMY – P4128 – Preliminary Feasibility Study (Rev H) – 1 st September 2014 2 1.0 Education Vision & Ethos ‘Achieving Education Excellence in Knutsford’: Establishing ‘All Through Learning’ Providing an educational vision for Knutsford ……. Knutsford is a vibrant and growing town. The opportunities for children and families living here are rich and varied. The schools in Knutsford are very much at the heart of this community and work together to ensure that all young people benefit from a diverse range of learning opportunities. The growth of the town has resulted in the necessity to increase the number of school places to meet an increasing need. This vibrant and enthusiastic local community deserves a new, modern, state of the art learning campus which will enrich and enthuse every learner to achieve personal excellence. The proposed 2-18 All Age School will transform education provision, preparing young people to become successful lifelong learners who will be able to maximise their skills, knowledge and aptitude to meet the needs of the modern business world. The opportunity to develop an All Age Education Campus between Egerton Primary School and Pre-School and Knutsford Academy with its linked Studio School will serve to benefit the children, their staff, the other local schools and the wider community. A shared philosophy and ethos regarding high quality inclusive education will ensure greater consistency around expectations, pedagogy, cultural ethos and strong outcomes for every child. In addition the upgraded facilities and expertise on campus will be available to further enhance experiences of young people and adult learners in our area. Our overarching purpose is to ensure that: Students of all ages will belong to a learning community that ensures seamless transition between phases to maximise progression in learning, setting the highest academic standards combined with high personal expectations and aspirations. Creating an Educational Ethos for the new All Age School ….. Delivering world class learning opportunities from pre-school through to the potential preparation for Higher Education and employment will require an ethos which is accepted and promoted by every individual who is actively involved within the new education campus. This ethos, centred upon achieving the highest standards for every learner, will be achieved through:. A rich, varied and purposeful curriculum for each phase which will be developed collaboratively. Specialist subject knowledge and expertise will be shared at the earliest and most appropriate points for children. A curriculum which will promote excellence in literacy and numeracy skills from the outset and ensure that every learner will access and succeed in those key skills which allow for easy access into wider curriculum opportunities Personalised pathways for learners which will be based upon informed choice and which allow for successful progression into differing career pathways including Higher Education, Apprenticeships and employment. A learning environment in which children feel safe, valued and have a strong sense of belonging to their learning community. They will have real ownership for their learning and take on varied roles with confidence and commitment. All learners will strive on the challenge in every aspect of school life. Strong and inclusive relationships with families creating working partnerships which will be critical to ensuring the correct support and challenge is given to learners. All learners will be resilient, self-responsible and have a strong desire to succeed Preservation and celebration of early childhood experiences from Pre- School onwards which will act as the strong foundations upon which further individual successes will be achieved. Strong and highly effective Leadership which will inspire and empower learners, staff, parents and governors to deliver and receive world class standards of education. A high calibre, adaptable and committed workforce. All staff will collaborate to plan high quality learning experiences that provide for a seamless journey for the children. It will be important to recognise the importance of staff specialisms within all phases as learners needs and expectations mature and diversify. Staff who will be empowered as well as challenged to improve their practice based on the learning demands of each phase to achieve the best outcomes for every child. The quality of teaching and learning will be outstanding with learners responding positively to an extensive range of stimuli to motivate, challenge and empower learners to want more.

3 KNUTSFORD ACADEMY – P4128 – Preliminary Feasibility Study (Rev H) – 1 st September 2014 3. What will ALL THROUGH LEARNING offer our learners ? Addressing potential dips of performance at key transition points Totally removing any curriculum or assessment variations between Key Stage 2 and 3 Consistency of monitoring and tracking pupil progress to drive up rates of attainment. Innovative curriculum mapping - e.g. shaping a new, single curriculum covering Years 5-8 Shared teaching across Years 6 & 7 or wider. Extending subject specialisms to all students adding to the excitement of learning at an earlier age. The opportunity to continue more traditional primary approaches for students that might benefit, providing a safer environment in which to progress. Developing a shared caring ethos and supportive relationships which will be long lasting Developing and maintaining links with parents and external agencies which are seamless and continuous. Promoting an active, creative and flexible approach to teaching and learning that is based upon a continuous learner pathway. Providing opportunities for students to work together, maximising positive peer influence from an early age. Establishing a family of learners who are totally empathetic and mutually supportive of each other. Exploiting the use of specialist facilities for younger students to extend their learning experiences. Joint use of sporting facilities being just one example. Maximising personal development for learners with deeper understanding of needs Creating a common ethos to support excellent learning behaviour and classroom management. All potential barriers to learning are removed with learners forging strong relationships based upon a mutual love of learning and a total desire to succeed. Highly effective community relationships. These will be based upon positive communication between all parts of the Knutsford Community to celebrate success and maximise the wider school resources for the benefit of other local schools and adult learners. A commitment to All Age, All Ability, All Progress. Appropriate resources and specialist support will be available to maximise the learning and personal development for all abilities. This will include a commitment to close achievement gaps between vulnerable pupils and their peers through rigorous intervention programmes and appropriate levels of additional support. The ready availability of early intervention services and multi-agency work. Families will be able to access appropriate support as their children progress through local schools. Learning experiences and opportunities which will be promoted, locally and nationally as well as internationally. The importance of strong global links and a rich understanding of differing cultures, language and transitions will be central to the ethos of the school. Learners of all ages will belong to one learning campus and have access to the highest quality facilities, resources and expertise to stimulate and excite all young people. The culture of transition will be one ‘without trauma’. Learners will recognise and experience each phase of their journey, being given recognition and praise for their achievements at every phase. These are important life stages and should create positive memories enabling learners to progress into adulthood with the skills, knowledge and personal aptitudes to succeed in life.
