The Balkan crises and supporting the Moroccan independence movement; To achieve Germany’s “place in the sun.” Germany wanted to test the strength of the Entente, and thus launched a fake campaign of support for Moroccan independence from France, and later stirred anger with Russia by evoking the Balkan Crises. Germany felt it deserved a “place in the sun,” as the European community did not recognize it as a power, and started WWI as means to have Germany noted as a European power.

American intervention in the war started with the German intrusion upon American neutrality by sinking American trade vessels. The situation was intensified when Germany sent a telegram to Mexico asking that Mexico attacks America if America were to declare war on Germany. As is the American way, we felt that ensuring the triumph of Democracy was a worthy reason to enter war.
