2 Process Review Session 1.The INROADS Process Review Session (PRS) is an orientation to provide qualified applicants with information about our organization, its history, and the required steps that must be completed to qualify; along with the commitment involved in participating in our Leadership Development process 2.Pay close attention because at the end of the PRS -- you are required to complete a quiz to test your understanding of the PRS content 3.Completion of the PRS does not automatically make you an INROADS Intern. The PRS is only an orientation to ensure that you understand your next steps and your commitment to INROADS

3 What/Who is INROADS? INROADS is a LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT organization existing to help aspiring leaders gain access into the corporate marketplace; by providing the training, development and coaching that lead to success in the workplace. This involves gaining professional corporate experience which includes the benefit of obtaining a paid internship to help elevate corporate career exposure! UNDERSTANDING OUR MISSION To develop and place talented underserved youth in business and industry and prepare them for corporate and community leadership WHAT/WHO WE ARE NOT NOT a headhunter NOT an internship placement agency NOT a middle man or liaison NOT just another place to get an internship

Carr in 1970 with 17 Corporate Partners and 25 Interns 2.INROADS places upwards of 1,400 college undergraduates into leadership development career related corporate experiences during the summer 3.Partnered with over 230 Corporations across the country; most of which are Fortune 500 4.Personnel in 34 U.S. Markets and operations in Mexico and Canada 5.Over 27,000 Alumni successfully working in all levels of business including corporate, non-profit and executive management C-Suite positions Mission: To develop and place talented underserved youth in business and industry and prepare them for corporate and community leadership

6 Where You Are In The Process You are in the pre-qualification stage of the application process YOUR APPLICATION HAS BEEN ASSESSED AND DETERMINED TO MEET THE MINIMUM ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS OF: 1. Being College UNDERGRADUATE Freshman, Sophomore, Junior or Senior (graduate students are not eligible for INROADS) 2. Having at least one full open summer before you receive your undergraduate degree 3. Having a cumulative GPA is 3.0 or higher (omitting first semester Freshman) 4. Attending a 4-year accredited college or university or transferring from a community college into a 4-year college or university 5. Career Interest in STEM, Management, Sales, Healthcare, Accounting, Supply Chain, Banking, Insurance, Engineering, Retail, Marketing, Food Science and more! If you do not meet all qualifications unfortunately you are not eligible for INROADS

7 Your INROADS Application Status INROADS APPLICATION IS TALENT POOL QUALIFIED (TPQ) 1. TPQ means your application has met the minimum requirements for consideration into a career opportunity within your local market, region or in another INROADS location. Our goal is to try to keep you in your home market (where you spend your summer). INROADS does not guarantee career opportunity placement 2. TPQ candidates can move to the next step of attending the Candidate Prep Session (CPS) after they have successfully completed the Process Review Session (PRS) and its accompanying quiz. The CPS is the professional development workshop required of all TPQ candidates prior to interviewing with an INROADS Corporate Partner. 3. TPQ is the first step to reaching Match Ready status, which is attained by completing the PRS, CPS, Mock Interview, Self-Intro Video and submitting your résumé and college transcript

8 Talent Pool Qualified (TPQ) Requirements 1. YOU must submit required documents immediately if you did not upload them as part of your application One-Page Résumé in Microsoft Word (email to resumes@inroads.org) College Transcript (email to transcripts@inroads.org) submit after each Semester submit after each Quarter for quarter-based schools Degree Audit Report in place of a transcript for College Juniors or Seniors (transcripts@inroads.org) ask registrars office for this if do not have access through your campus account 2. YOU must complete the INROADS Candidate Prep Session (CPS) within 30 days of being invited to participate in the CPS 3. YOU must complete a successful Mock Interview with an INROADS representative when contacted  Mock Interviews are scheduled by INROADS after you complete the CPS based on the need vs. opportunity  Mock Interviews are not guaranteed for all Candidates  If you are not contacted for a Mock Interview, there is nothing required for you to do other than wait. INROADS selects candidates thru June 4. YOU must be available to work full-time 10-12 consecutive weeks for consecutive summers leading up to your undergraduate degree completion (or one summer for graduating seniors)

9 Candidate Prep Session (CPS) Workshop CANDIDATE PREP SESSION (CPS) 1. One-time training workshop designed to enhance your corporate interview readiness; and provides a better understanding around the requirements of INROADS Leadership Development Career Opportunities 2. Taught by INROADS through face-to-face workshops or webinars. INROADS encourages candidates to attend a face-to-face CPS as the first method of training versus participating through a webinar 3. Topics include Résumé Development, Interview Management and Impression Management 4. Face-to-face workshops require at least 3 hours and Business Professional Attire

10 Mock Interviews 1. Are practice interviews to determine if you are ready for a corporate interview 2. Can be conducted on-site during the face-to-face CPS or scheduled after you complete the CPS either in-person or webcam 3. Mock Interviews are conducted on a need vs. career opportunity basis Not all candidates receive mock interviews Candidates are contacted directly to schedule Mock Interview If you are not contacted for a Mock Interview, there is nothing required for you to do other than wait. INROADS selects candidates thru June 4. Can be conducted multiple times at INROADS discretion 5. You cannot be considered for sponsorship by any of the INROADS Corporate Partners until we determine you are ready to interview

11 Self-Introduction (Match Ready) Video 1. INROADS requires all candidates who have completed all prerequisites to submit a self-introduction video highlighting what we do not/cannot gage from his/her resume (Your Personal Story) Candidate completed the Process Review Session Candidate completed the Candidate Prep Session Candidate submitted Resume in Word (resumes@inroads.org)resumes@inroads.org Candidate submitted Unofficial Transcript (3.0+ GPA) (transcripts@inroads.org)transcripts@inroads.org 2. Self-Introduction Video Parameters 60-120 seconds in length Self-recorded by candidate Business Professional attire required (as referenced during CPS) Should not repeat information your resume Good lighting is key to avoid dark shadows on face Clean (non-distracting) background (White background recommended) 3. Self-Introduction Videos are used to compliment your resume if you are selected/sourced to INROADS Corporate Partners for consideration It helps the corporate partner get a sense of who you are beyond your resume and academics prior to and/or without meeting you

12 BASIC RÉSUMÉ FORMAT 1. One-Page 2. Submit as MS Word Document 3. Include Primary Contact Info 4. Include Objective Statement 5. No References Required Having your résumé in the INROADS format helps the INROADS Managers and Corporate Partners locate the critical information they need to make the selection decision! 13 How Candidates are Selected CAREER OPPORTUNITY MATCHING PROCESS 1.INROADS does NOT guarantee corporate career placement for any candidate 2.You must reach Match Ready Status in order to be matched to career opportunities 3.INROADS Managers match candidates to career opportunities based on the candidates who are the strongest fit with the job requirements provided by our corporate partners 4.Candidates can be matched upwards of three or more corporate career opportunities at any given time. Based on available opportunities, qualifications and candidate fit 5.Candidate Matching Process occurs from August thru June (matching is not instant) 6.Corporate opportunity experiences are available in various industries including but not limited to Consumer Products, Manufacturing, Energy, Financial Services, Retail, Technology & Logistics, and Professional Services 7.Hiring Manager at the Corporate Partner reviews candidate résumés and decides who to interview and they also make the final hiring decisions (NOT INROADS)

21 Did You Pay Attention? CONGRATULATIONS you have completed your INROADS Candidate Orientation through the Process Review Session! You will now be routed to the PRS Assessment - which will test how much of the content you retained. Failure to score 80% or higher will require you repeat the PRS and Assessment. After three failed attempts - your application will be in jeopardy of being inactivated.
