4. CASAS E-Test  Give your best effort. Your score on this test will determine the level at which you will begin. The lower your score, the lower the level you will begin and the longer it can take you to complete your HS Diploma or GED.  Students testing on CASAS form 187/188 are required to score a 236 or higher to begin working on their HS Diploma or GED.

6. CASAS Requirements Any student who does not score 236 on form 187/188 or higher will automatically begin in the Basic Skills classes. Basic Skills students do not receive High School credits unless they need elective credits. If all Basic Skills classes are completed, the student can earn 5 elective credits for Math and 5 elective credits for English Language Arts if they are needed towards graduation. Students will be expected to finish their Basic Skill Classes or improve their CASAS score at the designated dates to move into their High School Diploma class.

Work from home and come in to show your progress to teacher. If spot opens up during registration period, you can rollover to class.

22. 22 There are 4 quarters in a school year(3 months each qtr.) You must register in your class or classes during open registration or wait until the next quarter begins. You must first bring your slip from this orientation to the office to register then go to class. If you do not bring the slip with you, you will have to come back another day with your slip! Don’t wait till last day to register. Classes will get full! Night classes have limited spacing, so students will get registered on a first come, first serve basis and we don’t save “spots” for anyone. 23. DAS Student Contract  Attend school regularly by being on time and prepared to learn. (pencils, notebook, ect...)  Dress and act appropriately.  Value yourself, classmates, DAS staff, and DAS property equally.  No food/drinks in classrooms.  Minimize distractions.  If contract expectations are not met, you will be dropped from Delano Adult School.

Attendance  Day students are allowed 5 absences each quarter (3 month period), after the 6 th absence you will be dropped.  Night students are allowed 3 absences each quarter (3 month period), after the 4 th absence you will be dropped.  At the beginning of each quarter students with two consecutive absences will be dropped  5 Partial absences (arriving late, or leaving early) will count as 1 absence  Each new quarter you start again with all your absences.  Out of courtesy inform your teacher if you will be absent. Informing your teacher does not excuse your absence.

36. GED Program Required Tests Math Reading Science Social Studies Writing (2 sections) GED Examinees: DAS has been notified that there will be a test changed in January 2014. If you have NOT completed all of your GED testing prior to this date your tests will become invalid and you will need to pay and retest again.

37. GED Program GED Testing GED test available in English or Spanish. Testing is offered Thursday evenings from 5:30pm– 9:00pm by appointment only. To schedule an appointment, call the DAS office at (661) 720-4171. You can only take one test per week. Students must pass each test with a minimum score of 410 AND have an average combined score of 450 on all five tests in order to earn a GED certificate.

38. GED Program GED Testing Rules & Regulations You must pay for GED exam at the time you schedule your appointment. Once you have paid for a test, there will be no refunds-no exceptions. Must be 18 years of age or older in order to test. Must have a CA Driver’s License or CA I.D. Must have a Social Security Card. No food or drinks during testing. No cell phones. If you leave the room during testing, your test will be forfeited.
