3 3 ADVOCACY Goal Objectives Objective 1: Develop programs and initiatives that address STEM initiatives Objective 2: Enhance workforce development for young professionals, mid-career professionals, and those who want to transition from other careers to the automation profession, including veterans Objective 3: Address aging workforce via retiree mentoring and contract work programs Objective 4: Develop partnerships and initiatives to advocate diversity in engineering

4 4 Related ADVOCACY Task Summary Assembling data for future outreach and organization collaboration. Design workforce development toolkit to be distributed to ISA Assembly and designated Assembly Chairs. Integration of AF website with ISA/ISASecure sites for promotion of technical resources. Relevant and up-to-date intellectual property/content (IP) for ISA to be premiere source of all things automation. Continue to support individuals to pursue the PE Exam credentialing and licensing process. Work with other organizations to promote diversity & inclusion in the field of automation engineering. Enhanced & frequent communication to ISA constituents on ways to participate in advocacy events/activities. Average across ALL objective areas (Check posters for details)

5  Receipt of Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Database - Over 6,000 elementary, middle and high school contacts for career outreach purposes Result? Distribution of outreach materials/messaging. Directional to website for career counselors, teachers and students; connection between schools and members to get involved in advocating the profession via mentoring activities, etc. Early intervention.  FIRST Championship Booth Participation - 7 Industry Volunteers (St. Louis Section)/2 ISA Staff Result? Distributed over 5,000 brochures & giveaways to thousands of students, parents, and mentors in attendance promoting ISA/AF and future career opportunities in automation. ADVOCACY Highlight Example(s) 5

6 66 How Can You Help ADVOCATE? Objective 1 – Milestone: ~ 30% of ISA Sections engaged with FIRST or international equivalent (or some type of automation outreach activity) in 2016. We need help at the grassroots level to reach out via Sections regarding gathering of information as to what members may already be involved in and/or providing information and spreading the word on the various ways to get involved.
