GSC17-PLEN-74r1 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 4 Highlight of Current Activities - CCSA Standard Approved by CCSA Management Committee and the Council, CCSA started to launch CCSA Standard in 2012. A new category of the standards CCSA is developing in addition to National Standard and Industry Standard. Mainly focusing on ICT technologies with overlapping or convergence areas, as well as those serving for verticals. May be transferred to National Standard or Industry standard if it is necessary in due time. So far, 21 CCSA standards have been issued. These standards cover: –Broadband popularization and speed enhancement; –M2M; –Emergency communication; –Power supply; –EMC

GSC17-PLEN-74r1 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 5 Highlight of Current Activities - Broadband Popularization and Speed Enhancement MIIT launched The Broadband Popularization and Speed Enhancement Project on March 31, 2012. The goal of The Project is that by 2015, –The number of broadband users reaches 250 million. –The average bandwidth in urban area reaches 20M. –The average bandwidth in rural area reaches 4M.

GSC17-PLEN-74r1 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 6 Highlight of Current Activities - Broadband Speed Test In order to support government’s policy-making and guarantee rights and interests of users, CCSA is developing standards on broadband speed testing standards including access network standards, interconnection standards and user experience standards. So far, the following two standards have been finished: –Test method for connection speed in broadband network – Fixed broadband access; –Broadband speed test method – User experience of internet surfing; Access Network Interconnection User Experience

GSC17-PLEN-74r1 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 8 Challenges Economic downturn affects the enthusiasm of ICT industry to participate in standardization activities. Coordination among SDOs need to be enhanced to reduce duplication work. The gap still exists between telecom SDO’s standardization activities and the needs of IT companies.

GSC17-PLEN-74r1 Standards for Shared ICT GSC-17, Jeju / Korea 9 Next Steps / Actions To enhance the value of standardization activities to absorb more IT companies to jointly develop ICT standards; To pay close attention to the studies on hot technologies such as: –M2M –Next Generation Internet and Mobile Internet –Smart service and terminal –IMT-advanced –Cloud Computing To continue to strengthen international technical exchange and cooperation.
