Agree or Disagree Sex is important in a close teenage relationship. Girls can get pregnant the first time they have intercourse. The pull-out method (withdrawal) always prevents pregnancy.

Agree or Disagree Guys should be abstinent till they get married. Girls should be abstinent till they get married. It would be nice to marry someone. who has been abstinent till marriage.

Why are so many teens getting pregnant? Pressure….Love….Curiosity…. Hormones… Rebellion….Alcohol & Drugs?

UNWANTED PREGNANCIES –Support her - both emotionally & financially –Quit school - get a job (less opportunity) –Finish school - work nights/weekends –Marry her –Break up - not be involved What are the decisions confronting a BOY who gets a girl pregnant?

What are the options for a girl who gets pregnant? Keep the baby - live with family members Adoption - give the baby away Get married - live on their own Safe surrender – at appropriate place Foster Care –

Safe Surrender Within 3 days of birth, a baby can be surrendered without fear of prosecution. Required to take baby to a public or private hospital, emergency room, or designated fire station. No Questions asked. Parent has 14 days from time of surrender to reclaim their baby.

KEEP THE BABY Money problems – doctor bills – hers and the baby’s, hospital bills costs will range depending on insurance policies…no insurance could range from $4000 to $5,000 for delivery of a healthy baby Clothes – maternity clothes and baby clothes, blankets Diapers - cloth, diaper service, disposable Food – bottles, formula, healthy snacks Baby things – crib, car seat, swing, toys, stroller

What changes might occur in her/his life? Family support - can they stay at home, are her parents/family going to help her financially, emotionally and physically Friends - social life changes, prom, dating, daily life activities (sleep, crying babies, going out)… School - Finish? Continuation school? Drop out? Future - work, college, marriage, goals, dreams...
