2. The Meaning Of Physical Development What is physical development? Physical development has to do with the growth and development of a child’s body and the acquisition of motor skills.

3. What Is Motor Skills? Motor Skills is the ability to perform complex muscle and nerve acts that produce movement; fine motor skills are small movements like writing and tying shoes, gross motor skills are large movements like walking and kicking

Motor Skills Ands The Two Basic Subcategories Gross Motor Skills ( Large Motor Skills) deal with the use of large muscles of the arms, legs, and back and are needed for such activities as sitting, walking, running, catching, kicking and throwing a ball, climbing, etc. Fine Manipulative Skills ( Small Motor Skills) deals with the use of fine muscles of the hands and fingers, which are necessary for such activities as for pointing, writing, drawing, buttoning up, using a knife and fork, typing, and cutting out pictures.
