Engaging students- challenged to process new information deeply and apply new concepts in different contexts Thinking deeply- many opportunities to explain understanding and new concepts to peers Scaffolding learning- lessons designed to give a “scaffold” of support until learning is demonstrated independently RIGOR METER

Transitions that Work  Sensational Signals  Terrific Timers  Simple Songs  Creative Chants Tips  Be specific about how students are to transition between activities. Don’t assume they know.  Model your expectations.  Be organized and set up materials in advance.  Monitor. Scan room looking for appropriate behavior.
