My friends and I have to do a documentary on the First Fleet. There is going to be animation which hopefully will look good.

Captain James Cook was born on the 7 th of November 1728 in a town Yorkshire in England. His parents names were James Cook and Grace Pace. He was one of five children. After five years of school he then worked with his father on a farm. On his days off he would go climbing, this is how he got his sense of adventure. At the age of 16 he moved to a fishing village where he got an apprenticeship in a grocery store it was there he first felt the power of the sea. His job working in the grocery didn’t interest him. He then met some people who worked in the sailing business and started to work for them. He studied while working on the ships so one day he could sail his own. While sailing started to developed a urge to explore.

First Fleet is the name given to the 11 ships which sailed from Great Britain on 13 May 1787 to establish the first European colony in New South Wales. It was a convict settlement, marking the beginning of transportation to Australia. The fleet was led by Captain (later on Admiral) Arthur Phillip. The ships were named: HMS Sirius - the Flagship of the fleet HMS Supply Alexander Charlotte Friendship Lady Penrhyn Prince Of Wales Scarborough Golden Grove Fishburn Borrowdale

The ships set out from Britain with seed, farm tools and farm animals. Relying on Sir Joseph Bank's picture of Botany Bay, the First Fleet took not only wheat but also such other crops as coffee, cocoa, cotton, banana, orange, lemon, guava, herbs, prickly pear. Some 500 farm animals taken on the fleet included a bull, cows, sheep, but mostly poultry.

The voyage of the First Fleet fell into four stages. The first stage took the fleet from Britain to the Canary Islands, Next, the fleet sailed from the Canary Islands to the Cape Verde Islands. The ships then sailed on to Rio de Janeiro, in Brazil. Next they went from Brazil to the Cape of Good Hope. Finally, they sailed from the Cape of Good Hope to Botany Bay, in New South Wales.
