3. First Australians The first people in Australia were the aboriginals. They arrived here around 50,000 years ago. Some aboriginal rock art is 40,000 years old. Most Aboriginal history was passed down from the elders. All the aboriginals slept on the ground.

When gudjilla looked to the left gula would jump to the right and when gudjilla looked to the right gula would jump to the left. When gudjilla opened a rock gula scared him and the spring water came out and everyone said sorry to gula and the kingfisher made the holes for the water.
