Impacts to Fisheries  This module summarizes some impacts to fisheries, focusing on trout as a sensitive species.

Trout Are Picky

Some Needs of Sensitive Fish  Very clear, clean water.  Cool water temperatures.  A clean, rocky stream bed.  A mix of “riffles, runs, and pools” in the stream.  Feed on insects and insect larvae.

Some Characteristics of Urban Stormwater  High pollutant concentrations  Muddy during construction  Increases stream temperature  High flows damage habitat  Cannot support many macroinvertebrates (bugs).
