Comparing and Ordering Large Numbers

What’s bigger? OR How do you know?

We can use this tool: Hundred Million Ten Million Hundred Thousand Ten Thousand HundredsTensOnes OR We can see by looking at the columns in our place value chart which place values are the same in value and where one is bigger or smaller than the other.

Hundred Million Ten Million Hundred Thousand Ten Thousand HundredsTensOnes First we look at the millions – they’re the same We check the next column – also the same Where do we finally see a difference? _______

Greater than, Less than, Equal to: We use the symbols, = to express these things. > means ‘greater than’ < means ‘less than’ = stands for ‘equal to’

What sign would I put in each of these to express which is greater or lesser? __ __
