Delaware Health and Social Services Overview Our vision is healthy people in healthy communities. Our mission is to protect & improve the health of all people in Delaware. DPH partners with others to have the greatest positive impact on the health of all people in Delaware by using available resources in the most efficient way to achieve desired results. Prevention is key to public health.

Delaware Health and Social Services What Does Public Health Do? Monitor health status to identify community health problems. Diagnose and investigate health problems and health hazards in the community. Inform, educate, and empower people about health issues. Mobilize community partnerships to identify and solve health problems. Develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts.

Delaware Health and Social Services What Does Public Health Do? Enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety. Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable. Assure a competent public health and personal healthcare workforce. Evaluate effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services. Research for new insights and innovative solutions to health problems.

Delaware Health and Social Services Making our Dollars Work Harder: Integrating CHAP and Screening for Life Saved more than $100,000 in administrative overhead by consolidating contracting processes. Integrated dual enrollment process to create a “one stop shop” for SFL and CHAP services. Enrolled 600 CHAP clients in SFL. Improved outreach to CHAP clients and coordination across programs.
