2 Objectives Identify the roles of the licensing board and the professional association as they exist in Nebraska. Identify strategies for creating/enhancing a mutually beneficial relationship between the board and the association. Group Learning- what have you experienced that can benefit others in the room? 3 (Chad) Many different governing body types NE is an AT Board Many other options, each with their own dynamics

4 (Chad) Does not include public members NE is AT (minority) Again, AT +1, +2, +3, & +4 all have different sets of dynamics

3 AT’s and 1 Public Member Housed within the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services – Regulation & Licensure (Chad)

7 Nebraska Board of Athletic Training
The Board of Athletic Training advises the Department of Health and Human Services Regulation and Licensure on all issues related to the regulation of athletic training. Core Functions and Essential Services of Public Health (Nebraska) Diagnose and investigate health problems and health hazards in the community. Develop policies and plans that support individual and community health efforts. Enforce laws and regulations that protect health and ensure safety. Link people to needed personal health services and assure the provision of health care when otherwise unavailable. Assure a competent public health and personal healthcare workforce. Evaluate effectiveness, accessibility, and quality of personal and population-based health services. Research for new insights and innovative solutions to health problems. (Chad) “Enforce laws that protect health and ensure safety” “Assume competent healthcare workforce” Says nothing about advancing profession!

9 Nebraska State Athletic Trainers’ Association (NSATA)
The Nebraska State Athletic Trainers' Association (NSATA) is committed to the advancement, encouragement, and improvement of the athletic training profession in all its phases in the State of Nebraska. The NSATA will promote better working relationships among those individuals interested and involved with problems inherent in caring for the health and well being of the physically active. (Rusty)

Facilitate Elaborate Celebrate (I’ll start with communicating about how this applies to the state association and then Chad will go into the regulatory board side)
