REGIONAL MEETING IN TANZANIA

A large regional surgical meeting has just been completed in Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania The College of Surgeons of East Central And Southern African (COSECSA) AGM and graduation ceremony took place at the Mlimani City Conference Centre between the 3rd and 5th December 2014.

The chief guest was the President of the United Republic of Tanzania, His Excellency Jakaya Kikwete. He was represented on his behalf by the Minister of Health and Social Services, Dr. Seif Suleiman Rashid.

To date this meeting represented the largest gathering of College presidents seen at this region with Presidents of the – West African College of Surgeons (WACS), Prof. Harve Yangni Angate, – Pan African Association of Surgeons (PAAS), Prof. Martin Smith, – Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh (RCSEd), Prof. Ian Ritche, – Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland (RCSI), Prof. Declan Magee – and representative of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (RCSEng), Prof Christopher Lavi.

A large number of staff from the department of surgery were in attendance at the meeting. The annual general meeting and scientific conference for COSECSA rotates annually in the 10 member countries and the Nairobi meeting will take place in December 2016
