BY AIDAN VALENTINE JOE RECIPROCAL READING

PREDICTOR I think grandad is going to tell Rose that valentine Joe has a dog. Rose predicts it was the dog that belonged to valentine Joe. Then she asks grandad and tells her a long story. So she goes back to the grave of valentine Joe and she wipes a piece of dust off the grave and she finds out that valentine Joe has a dog and the dog they found before was valentine’s dog. She runs to grandad and tells him every thing and he says he knew the whole time because he has been having weird dreams. She gets angry at him for not telling her sooner and goes for a walk and finds valentine Joe.

PREDICTOR PT2 Weird things are happening to Rose because she can’t stop thinking about the boy in her head (Valentine Joe). She decides to search him up on the internet. And shows a list of relatives. One of them is grandad. Suddenly she questions grandad. I predict this because grandad might be keeping secrets that Rose wants to know. He thinks she is making it all up.

QUESTIONER I see Valentine Joe and Rose hanging out. I wonder how long they are going to hangout for till he leaves her for good. I think he will die because Rose is in Joe’s world that some how affects their lives? I wonder this because no-one really knows anything about Rose. She might change history because even there. I see Joe’s friends saying Rose isn't real. I wonder later on if they see her and then think she is real. I think this because one Joe’s other friends see Rose and so can the little girl? I wonder this because people beginning to so Rose.

VISUALISER  I see Joe’s world where the war is and people are being with their family’s that Rose is currently in.  I smell the stinky, disgusting, gross unwashed hair of the soldiers.  I taste the yummy, tasty dinner Rose and Joe are having.  I feel vibration of the motorcycle Rose was on.  I hear two soldiers yelling out “Bert” trying to find their friend.

CONNECTOR Text to text: In the book when Valentine Joe told the truth about his age reminded me when in a other book this kid got in trouble for lying. But Joe didn't get in trouble. Text to self: In the book when it was Anzac day kids dropped poppies it reminded me when our school we did that to. Text to world: On Anzac day they played the trumpet just like they did at the dawn service this year that I saw on the news.

SUMMARISER Rose and grandad take the train to Belgium to see grandads uncle’s grave. They also find the grave of Valentine Joe. After that they go back to the hotel. Rose goes for a walk and sees weird stuff. She goes back to the hotel and finds a dog. Grandad says not to keep it and go to the hotel for some sleep. The next night she finds Valentine Joe, the guy that was on the grave. They are the only ones who can see each other. They have dinner together but Joe has to go to fight in world war 1. He leaves to go back to war but leaves his lucky sixpence. She wants to find him again to give it back to him, but can’t. Suddenly Rose is in Joe’s world and Joe gets hurt from a gas attack. They go to the Hospital and Joe confesses about his age. He goes back to fight even though he has the option to go home back to England. Rose goes after him as a passenger on a motorcycle to find Joe to tell him to stay in England and stay safe. She finds the ambulance and runs after it thinking it will lead her to Joe. Rose boards a train to look for Joe but finds a soldier dying. He talks to her before dying. Rose looks for Joe but the train crashes and falls in a ditch. She finds the dog again and follows him to find sleeping soldiers and Joe. She talks to Joe and he tells her that he needs to continue fighting and that he has left a present for her where they first met. They kiss. Rose wakes up and it’s Valentine day. She meets with Fredrick, who is a local boy and friend to Rose. They go to find Joe’s gift for Rose. They find it, it’s a wooden shaped heart that says “For my Rose, from your Valentine”. They meet up with grandad and grandad surprises Rose with a dog. It’s the same dog they met early on in the book and that lead Rose to Joe in his world. Rose names it Tommy just like he was in the war. Rose goes home to London.

THOUGHTS I enjoyed the book. My favourite part was when Rose finally got Tommy from her grandad because Tommy was like the 3rd main character and it was good to see that character and it was good to see him in the present. A few words to describe the book is mysterious, crazy, puzzling and mind blowing. And makes you predict what the next chapter could be.
