Taiga Geography & Climate Location: Jack London Lake at Kolyma, Russia. Description: The world’s largest terrestrial biome. Soil Type: Poor, and young in nutrients. Precipitation: Large amounts of rain fall. Temperature Range: -5 to 5 degrees Celsius and 21 degrees Celsius in the summer. Climate: Subarctic.

Taiga Biodiversity Plant Species: Not much plant life. Conifer Trees, Evergreen, Spruce, Fir, Pine, Tamarack, Larch, Broadleaf, etc. Animal Species: Black Bear, Bald Eagle, Red Fox, Wolverine, Snowshoe Rabbit, etc. 13 Species were identified.

Taiga Adaptations Needed for Survival Plant: There isn’t much plant life, but they have to be able to survive in harsh, cold winters. Animal: They have to adapt to the major temperature change. There’s cold winters and hot summers.

Taiga Interactions of Biotic and Abiotic Biotic and Abiotic: Animals drink the water. Birds fly in the air. Plants absorb sunlight.

What is Biodiversity? Diversity among and within plant and animal species in an environment.

How does biodiversity contribute to the sustainability of an ecosystem? Use the handout given in class to answer the above question Biodiversity contributes to the sustainability to the ecosystem because if there were only one particular plant that dozens of organisms eat, they would run out of food and die, but the diversity of plant life decreases this chance. Biodiversity contributes to the sustainability to the ecosystem because if there were only one particular plant that dozens of organisms eat, they would run out of food and die, but the diversity of plant life decreases this chance.
