What it is, how to spot it, and how to respond to it
Presentation transcript:

By: Delaney Syme and Megan Eglin.

When there is a very intense argument going on in a chat room or over texts it is called flaming. The bullies that do this will normally use capital letters, images and symbols. This adds emotion to the argument. Here is a real example of Flaming: “I was instant messaging my best friend, and we had an argument over a guy… The next day she had printed off our conversation and handed it to a group of girls, but she had changed it. It read like I had said all these really mean things [ about them all] That I never said, and they believed her.” Now that you see how that flaming incident ended, you know not to reply to bully's when you are mad. You should take some time to cool down and think about it first.

The term anonymity is used when someone sends you threatening comments anonymously. This means someone can send you the comments without you knowing who they are. Anonymity can also include the use of aliases or pseudonyms. Anonymity is very common when cyberbullying. When a website is set up anonymously it makes it nearly impossible to track down who set it up. When someone sends you a threatening message on a mobile device, unless you are able to recognize the number, you most likely wont know who sent it. Some people even use other peoples phones to send the message. These are examples of Anonymity

Harassment is when someone is sending you or a group offensive messages. Bully’s will normally send a person a message repeatedly. When a bully posts their message to a chat room or a bulletin board everyone is able to see it. What would you do if you got a harassing message every hour for a few days? How would you feel?

Pseudonyms of aliasis like a nick name. Bullies may call themselves a different name when there online the offline. Bullies do it to keep there real identity a secrete from you. When you use instant messaging services like yahoo messenger or msn messenger you are known to other people by your nickname that you used. this is an example of pseudonymous. Bullies can change their name to something you wouldn’t guess or expect. Similarly bullies may change there name to something offensive. Like the example.

It is elaborate form of cyber bullying where the bully pretends to be someone who they aren't. Bullies might create a fake addresses or a fake instant messaging names or they could use someone else's or phone to get a hold of you. This could all appear as the threats have been sent by someone else again keeping bullies identity a secrete * If people ask you for your password for Facebook or twitter or your phone or computer or whatever you have a password for DO NOT GIVE IT THEM *

Outing is giving away secrets online. Outing is the public display of forwarding personal information and the conversation. Many bully’s print out instant messages or anything that could hurt or have any affect on the other person.

In a lot of cases. The group of teenagers who have mobile phones exclude teenagers who don’t from the group. Here is an example: “an 11 year old girl recalled in a newspaper interview how every girl in a class but one was invited to a recent sleepover. The girls at the party went on the internet that night and taunted the one who had been left out.

Cyber stalking is a technology-based attack on a person who has been targeted specifically for reasons of anger, revenge, or control it can also take many forms, harassment, embarrassment, and humiliation
