US IOOS Coastal & Ocean Modeling Testbed Venue to facilitate testing and transitions into operations. Improving ties to different NOAA and partner Agency modeling efforts. 5 projects; Hypoxia in Chesapeake Bay and Gulf of Mexico, Inundation in PR/USVI, West Coast Operational Forecast System, CI tools for comparing models/data 11

Ocean Technology Transition – FY14 12 Fostering the transition of marine sensor and other advanced observing technologies to operations mode. IOOS awarded five grants totaling $2.1 million Operational Nutrient Observatory for the Northeastern United States – Industry Partner: WetLabs Imaging Flow CytoBot in SF Bay – Industry Partner: McLain & Axiom The “Burk-o-lator” – developing low cost OA sensors

Marine Biodiversity U.S. launched 3 Marine Biodiversity Observation Network projects to show marine and coastal data could be integrated into the system U.S. contribution to GEO BON is focused in in four regional geographies: the Florida Keys, Monterey Bay, Channel Islands, and the U.S. Chukchi Sea continental shelf. ity/welcome.htmlhttp:// ity/welcome.html Credit: MBARI 13 GEO BON - Group on Earth Observations Biodiversity Observation Network

MARACOOS Forward? Challenge to MARACOOS: Continue to build and grow new partnerships that bring value to users through technology, discovery, data, and knowledge Bring new partners and data into IOOS Identify issues to rally around - like 59degree water on the bottom at Georges Bank Help validate models with in situ data and modeling expertise from Global SST and SSH to HYCOM and WavewatchIII Its all about the Water! Mimic the Shad, Rockfish and follow the American Eel? 16

Congratulations and Thank You Thank you for these successes in MARACOOS-led modeling effort resulted in revised butterfish stock assessment and the opening of a valuable fishery in the Northwest Atlantic New York Harbor added as the third location that uses IOOS high frequency data for the PORTS system New MARACOOS partnership with the NOAA Ocean Acidification Program 17
