About Me Graduated Penn State University (2009) Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education Emphasis on multi-cultural education PA Elementary K-6 Certification Graduated Penn State University (2011) Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction Emphasis in language and literacy PA Reading Specialist K-12 Moved to New Jersey in 2012 Transferred certification, familiarized myself with NJ curriculum and became part of Califon school family last year!

Triumph Learning Common Core Coach Mathematics 1. Operations and Algebraic Thinking (+/- within 20, understand relationship between +/-) 2. Numbers and Operations in Base Ten (extend counting, understand place value) 3. Measurement and Data (measure lengths, tell and write time) 4. Geometry (shapes and attributes) Lessons: Technology, manipulatives, games, centers (Build It, 10 Frames, Pattern Blocks, etc.) Assessments: Workbooks, class activities, tests Homework: Home-School Connection, practice facts for fluency Mirrors Common Core State Standards and organized by domain. A new spelling list is given each week and a spelling test on Friday. High Frequency Words: These words are part of the spelling list & will be added to the word wall. Will also be practiced using interactive sight word journals. Literacy Based Learning Centers: Write the room, Roll-A-Word, Sticker story, Stamp center, Listening Center, etc. Scholastic News: Informational Texts

Language Arts: Writing Lucy Calkins Writing Workshop: We Are Authors! Units of Study include Launching Writer’s Workshop, Personal Narrative Writing, Skills and Strategies, Revision, Authors as Mentors, Nonfiction writing, and Poetry Handwriting: Review pencil grip, writing numerals, letter formation Free Write Journals: Can try out what they’ve been learning, see growth over time Homework: Spelling Tic-Tac-Toe due Fridays Beginning next month: “Just right” books will go home on Fridays, to be brought back on Mondays
