eReporting as term isn‘t clearly specified yet but it should … –more systematic ITC approach for reporting –based on standards for interoperability –Reporting embedded in information sharing infrastructures (e.g. should include services) The meaning of „e“ in eReporting

Why is INSPIRE a driver for eReporting? –INSPIRE is the infrastructure for sharing of spatial data –Around 90% of environmental data have a spatial component –INSPIRE relevant data is requested in several reporting data flows INSPIRE and eReporting Enviromental Reporting INSPIRE Infrastructures Past

Were are we at the moment on European level? Air Quality eReporting as early adopter including service harvesting of UTD data Trend to join reporting requirements and INSPIRE Data Specifications No reporting via service based approach (using Reportnet) European level is just one of many INSPIRE and eReporting Present

What is still needed? Consistent approach for data modeling (#1) Use of web services (#2) Better coordination across reporting initiatives (incl. beyond EU) INSPIRE and eReporting Future

INSPIRE and eReporting 10

#1 – consistent design approaches (both embedded in SDI) INSPIRE and eReporting ………… Thematic requirements INSPIRE DS 1 INSPIRE DS 2 etc. One schema containing … INSPIRE DS 1 (via INSPIRE service) INSPIRE DS 2 (via INSPIRE service) Thematic requirements Links on object and dataset level Reported data (file or service) INSPIRE infrastructure Integrated approach Linked approach Linked elements within the INSPIRE Data Specifications and provided via services or files ”outsourced” elements not part of the INSPIRE Data Specifications

#2 - Use of web services Use of INSPIRE Network Services for reporting Better reuse and sharing of reported data Efficient reuse of existing INSPIRE data Are services a new benefit or a new must for the eReporting? INSPIRE and eReporting

Current approach (manual upload)

eReporting via INSPIRE services 14 for EEA/ETC For MS Concept for web-service reporting (harvesting)

eReporting via INSPIRE services 15 Integrated approach Concept for web-service reporting (harvesting)

eReporting via INSPIRE services 16 Integrated approach

Environmental reporting is stepwise progressing towards eReporting Discussions on different design approaches and expected benefits –Flexible but interoperable Testing of service based reporting needed for next steps –e.g. INSPIRE Marine pilot Conclusions
