 In 1878, Ida B Wells life changed forever. A yellow fever epidemic swept through the region. Both of her parent died cause of the disease.  In 1883, Ida B. ells moved 40 miles north to Memphis.  She ended up getting a job as a teacher  Wednesday 15, October 2008, 2/13/2011,

 Her career as a teacher was sparked by an incident that occurred on May 4, on this day, while riding on a train back to her job in Woodstock. She was asked to move from her seat in the ladies car to the front of the train into the smoking car. After she refused to, the conductor threatened to physically removed her from her seat. It took the men to remove her from her seat. She got off the train instead of going to the smoking car. Wednesday 15, October 2008, 2/13/2011,

 Ida B. Wells had 6 younger brother and sisters.  One of her baby brother named, Stanley, had died from the yellow fever disease.  Since both of her parents had died from the yellow fever disease she was now responsible for 5 younger brothers and sisters.  Haynes, Richard.  In June 1895 Ida B. Wells married Ferdinand Lee Barnett, an attorney and newspaper publisher.  Although Ida B. Wells was raising her own family she didn’t abandon her role as a fighter.  Ida B.  Ida B. Wells had a lot of courage she spoke up for what she believed in.  In 1930 she ran for state senate, but she didn’t win the race.  Ida B. Wells was a reformer and a American journalist.  She was know for her campaign against the lynching of 1900’s.  Many African American were lynched without even a trial after being accused of a crime, and others were lynched for no apparent reason.  Ida B.
