 In 1878, Ida B Wells life changed forever. A yellow fever epidemic swept through the region. Both of her parent died cause of the disease.  In 1883, Ida B. ells moved 40 miles north to Memphis.  She ended up getting a job as a teacher  Wednesday 15, October 2008, 2/13/2011,

 Her career as a teacher was sparked by an incident that occurred on May 4, on this day, while riding on a train back to her job in Woodstock. She was asked to move from her seat in the ladies car to the front of the train into the smoking car. After she refused to, the conductor threatened to physically removed her from her seat.  Ida B.
