4 Summary Addy needed to get medicine for M’Dear because she was sick The clerk helped all other customers but ignored Addy because she was black When he finally asked what they wanted, he was very rude and threw the medicine on the counter. On the streetcar the conductor said no blacks were allowed. So Addy got off and ran home. At the end the South surrendered and the war ended Addy picked April 9, the day the war ended, as her birthday because she was so happy

5 What I liked What I liked about this book is it is teaching us that race doesn’t matter, and all human beings have feelings.

6 What I hated What I didn’t like about this this that it was a girls’ book but it was interesting to find out what girls read. Very interesting!!
