Digital texts Developing the European digital library for economics (DECOMATE II) –Multilateral agreements between the participating libraries on issues related to copyright/licenses for access and document delivery; –Demonstrator and test bed for license agreements with publishers and information providers and for models of use of digital library services; –Various types of copyright materials, based on different types of copyright arrangements (e.g. campus licenses, document delivery arrangements, pay-by-view) are included.

Digital audio/sound recordings Improving public access to audio collections (JUKEBOX) –Libraries as intermediaries between users and sound archives; –Access to sound recordings due to national copyright law; –Detailed negotiations with relevant copyright organisations, e.g. GEMA in Germany.

EXPLOIT German Libraries Institute Berlin 10 Copyright & Licensing Electronic Copyright Management Systems (1) Billing System for Open-Access Networked Information Resources (COPINET) –free previews/thumbnails, –charging for abstracts and/or bibliographic references or links to full text, –charging per page/per document and with a scale of charges such that it is cheaper to purchase the whole text when more than 50% of the pages have been selected, –information on charges per item or per session, –credits for failed delivery.

EXPLOIT German Libraries Institute Berlin 11 Copyright & Licensing Electronic Copyright Management Systems (2) Controlled Access to Network Digital Libraries in Europe (CANDLE) –management system to improve the acquisition and handling of electronic publications by libraries. Electronic library image service for Europe (ELISE I/II) –include a model for protection of rights, –fair pricing for educational and cultural use, –mechanisms for charging.
