Presentation transcript:

 The older a person is, the less inclined they will be to file their income tax electronically.

 The survey contained the following information which was used in the analysis of the data. › First Name (optional) › Age › Gender › Nationality

 Independent Variable  Generation › Age 18 to 83 › Born 1928 to 1993  Dependent Variables  Internet Usage › I believe that a person’s beliefs on this topic depends on their age.  Gender › 11 Males › 11 Females  Nationality › American

 Five Statements were created for each survey participant to respond to in order to test my hypothesis 1. I do not mind filing my income tax online with some assistance. 2. I think everyone should file their income tax online. 3. I plan to always file my income tax online. 4. I trust the security of the internet enough to file my income taxes online. 5. I know the internet well enough to file my income tax online.

 Numerical values were assigned for different attitudes toward my statements. › 5 Strongly Agree › 4 Agree › 3 Neutral › 2 Disagree › 1 Strongly Disagree

 The survey was first presented to two classmates in order to determine if my statements reflect the hypothesis and if the survey as a whole is understandable.  The survey was administered to 22 randomly selected participants from these public locations. › Oklahoma History Center, Oklahoma City › Read Earth Museum, Oklahoma City › Edmond Downtown Community Ctr, Edmond

 Using Microsoft Office Excel, I created a spreadsheet to analyze the results of my survey and charts to show some trends in my data.

 That my hypothesis is incorrect.  In filing taxes older people use the internet as often as younger people.  My interview sample was composed of professionals and was skewed due to their professional use of the internet.  If I were to do this survey again I would ask for educational levels.  More women than men appeared to be confident in internet use.
