SOCIAL MEDIA SURVEY EDTC 5103-SPRING 2012

HYPOTHESIS Older generations are less likely to use social media (Twitter, Facebook, etc) because they value their privacy where younger generations value their right to publicity.

SURVEY

AGE

GENDER *Only females returned the survey

I ENJOY USING SOCIAL MEDIA

I FEEL SOCIAL MEDIA IS A VIOLATION OF PRIVACY

SOCIAL MEDIA HAS A POSITIVE IMPACT ON SOCIETY

I SIGN UP FOR ANYTHING THAT IS NEW

THERE SHOULD BE MORE RESTRICTIONS ON WHAT CAN BE SHARED ON THE INTERNET

SUMMARY The answers to the survey did not seem to change depending on age. Many of the teachers surveyed did not have strong opinions one way or another. I think the results would have been closer to my hypothesis if I had chosen a sample that had a higher age range. I also feel that many answered based on what they know. For example, they only use Facebook and Pinterest. They have not tried out Twitter or Tumblr.
