Changes!  Fluid situation  Examination/Modules  Controlled Assessment  No early entries  Impact of A level reforms  Grades!

New Grade System

Information   school/academic school/academic

Practical impact on options All pupils are required to make three (3) choices (not including separate science) – 9 GCSEs studied by most pupils – Greater flexibility in timetabling EAL, LS, Music, LAMDA rather than pulling pupils from lessons – Raise the GCSE profile for further education With the approval of their tutor, pupils who wish to make a fourth choice may do so A pupil wishing to do separate science can only do so if approved by their tutor to make a fourth GCSE choice

What Happens Now? Post half- term: tutors meet with tutees to discuss their options/suitability Wednesday 2 nd March – provisional choices made by students Timetabling blocks are then created Parents are written to by tutors confirming options

FAQs Closing doors? Very few doors are closed by GCSE options. Can you do certain A levels without the GCSE? Tiering – should be aiming for Higher Tier Is it possible to study two languages? What if my son/daughter is not recommended to take four options but I want them to?
