What does this mean for League? Group discussion: When you hear this information and after reading the two papers shared with you, what are your initial impressions or takeaways?

Addressing Membership Issues: Learnings from Other Organizations

Learnings

Remember the League’s Good News!

What’s our potential? Initial Whole Group Discussion: What opportunities does this new and growing cohort of engagers offer the League? Opportunities for impacting public policy and having impact in new ways? Options for changing traditional notion of Membership? Think Outside the Box!

World Café: Discussion Let’s focus on our current “thicks” – i.e., our traditional local League engagement – how do we shake things up in this area? Question 1: What’s needed to succeed in the current environment? How do we come together in new and different ways? How do we respond to the changing environment? Use reporting form at table to capture the discussion. Report out.

Two individuals stay at the table to be the “hostesses.” All others move to a different table. Question 2: How do we help “thin” our traditional League work to allow more to affiliate with us? How do we get Leagues more to thinly engage? Use the reporting form to capture ideas. Report out. World Café: Discussion

Question 3 : How does this apply to coaching? How does this fit with the MLD? What impact do you see this having on your coaching? What will be needed to help you as a coach to succeed in advancing some of these ideas? World Café: Discussion Same two individuals stay at the table to be the “hostesses.” All others move to a different table.

Next Steps Sharing information about the new environment – With whom? When? How? LWVUS Board role Opportunities at state conventions and National Council
