Earth’s Shape, Size and Composition Unit 1: Planet Earth Earth’s Shape, Size and Composition

What is the Shape of the Earth? Nearly Perfect Sphere Evidence: Photo’s, Sailing Ships Mast, Path of sun and other celestial objects in the sky seen from different locations at the same time, Earth’s shadow on the moon during a lunar eclipse, force of gravity is nearly equal everywhere on Earth’s surface

True Shape of the Earth: Oblate Spheroid Distance around the poles is less (40,008km) than the distance around the equator (40,076km) Earth is perfectly smooth as well compared to its size...like a billard ball

What is Earth Made of? Recall the four nonliving zones: Lithosphere Hydrosphere Atmosphere Cryosphere

All information regarding the earth’s composition Is found on p 1 ESRT atmosphere
