WEMSIS “What can it do for the East Region” Travis Myklebust Lewiston Fire Dept.

What is WEMSIS? The Washington EMS Information System –Collects electronic information on prehospital care. How much does it cost? Can it report both fire & EMS? Is it secure? Are there other vendors? Who is doing it in the region?

What can WEMSIS do for the East Region? Provide data on types of incidents Provide data on procedure performed in the region Average response times Average incident times Causes of injury for BLS & ALS Chief complaint & location of incident Number of runs per month Data on runs per day of week and hours of the day

What can it do for the East Region? Provide gender and age of patients Transport modes the scene Disposition by hospital Provide Utstein cardiac arrest data QA/QI for MPD’s Maintain training records Allow access of department documents on site.

Strategic Plan Goal 17 Strategy 2: By February 2010 the Regional Council’s WEMSIS Committee will provide a report to the Regional Council on their recommendation regarding prehospital needs required to bring agencies on board for the submission of data. Strategy 3: By March 2010 the Regional Council’s Finance Committee in conjunction with the WEMSIS Committee will identify appropriate stakeholders to work towards funding the equipment needs of the prehospital agencies so that they can submit data.

Strategic Plan Goal 17 Strategy 4: By August of 2010 the Regional Council will make available to prehospital agencies possible funding resources for WEMSIS equipment, education and software interfaces.
