Test environments serving device certification Group Name: WG6 (TST) Source: Denis Chabot, Sierra Wireless, Meeting Date: TST #21

Foreword © 2016 oneM2M Partners TST This document aims at summarizing all potential test environment that could be used during the oneM2M certification of any device Note that those various routes are not mutually exclusive.

Mandatory/Optional ICS The device Profile (depending on the product class) is a work in progress in TST. It is necessary to define a subset of mandatory ICS (that will ensure interoperability with systems). All others will be optional/conditional. As far as testing is concerned, there is no optional testing, only optional ICS. Any supported ICS shall be tested. © 2016 oneM2M Partners TST

3 rd party Testing This testing would be carried out in a 3 rd party accredited test lab. It would ideally consist in the minimum subset of tests to ensure interoperability with already oneM2M-certified devices. It could be a Step-1 testing “gating” the following testing steps. The testing would be based on the mandatory ICS as defined in TS-0017 © 2016 oneM2M Partners TST

Do-It-Yourself Testing This testing could be carried out on an online public web portal. The output would be a subset of test logs that would represent a valid artefact as part of the overall test “reports” to be used in the oneM2M certification This activity would manage the testing of “optional” ICS as defined in TS © 2016 oneM2M Partners TST

Test Fest / IOP / Field Trials This part of testing could consist in testing the DUT against already oneM2M-certified devices (number of devices TBC) It would help ensure the correct behavior of the application in a “live” environment (here, “live” means “not lab constrained”). This testing could be carried out during a Test Fest or optionally through mutual agreements between manufacturers. © 2016 oneM2M Partners TST

Validation of results It is the Certification Strategy ad-hoc meeting to provide guidance on the validation results. However, one route could be for oneM2M to define Certification Bodies (existing certification forums or not) accredited to validate the results from a oneM2M device manufacturer. © 2016 oneM2M Partners TST
