South America is home to many unique animals. First, the parrot lives in South America. They can be 3 inches to 10 inches long. Most parrots are green. Parrots live in nests at the tops of trees. They eat berries, seeds, and insects. Next is the Marine Iguana. They live along the edges of the water. The iguanas eat algae and seaweed. They have long claws that help them cling to rocks. Third, is the Argentine Snake-Necked Turtle. These turtles are able to grow up to 11 inches long. The females are larger than the males. They eat fish, amphibians, and insects.

Another animal is a tree frog. Tree frogs are known for having strong legs. They live in humid, wet, areas. They lay their eggs in ponds, puddles, and other moist areas. The next animal is the llama. Llamas are about 6 feet tall. The llamas hair is very soft and the people of South America use it today. Finally, the jaguar. Jaguars are powerful, big-headed animal. They live in watery habitats such as swampland and frequently flooded forests throughout South America. They live alone and eat everything from mice to deer.

South America’s weather is difficult to predict. It changes quickly. At certain times during the year they have hurricanes and other times have droughts.
