SETTING Fairytales are characterized by being set in a castle or a forest. Little Red Riding hood is set in a forest.

CHARACTERS Although the characters in Little Red Riding Hood are not royalty, one of the main characters is a talking wolf.

MAGIC There aren’t any magic wands in this story, but talking wolves and a hunter cutting a wolf open to find a little girl and a grandmother? Sounds like magic to me.

PROBLEM Is there a problem in the story? Absolutely! A wolf was pretending to be Red’s grandmother. That’s a pretty big problem.

SO DOES LITTLE RED RIDING HOOD MEET THE STANDARDS OF A FAIRY TALE? Let’s check our facts: SettingForest CharactersAnimals MagicYep ProblemOh yeah! Looks like the story meets all of our criteria!
