9 Things you can do at home: Get the most out of a book and spend more time reading it! Read a variety of different types of texts for all different ages. Don’t worry about the levels of books- if the children are enjoying it they are enjoying it! Use a picture book and use the pictures to create your own story. Draw story maps. Learn a text using mime. Discuss the characters and settings and compare to other stories they have read. Box up the story into beginning, middle and end. Create your own stories by adapting one they know well. Happy reading and writing!
