Single mothers without a high school degree is higher than the state at 13.6% vs. 13.2% but has significantly decreased in past five years. Women and Girls Senior Women in Need Historically, women have been more likely to be poor than men, especially senior women. o In Collier County, the senior population is growing faster than the country. o There are more females than males over 65 and that is up by 25% more by age 85 and older. o Retirement income is limited to social security for many.
