4 Analysis Methodology Primary data sources: –2000 Census, 5% Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) –2002 Survey of Minority Owned Businesses –Bureau of Labor Statistics, Current Population Survey –Maryland Higher Education Commission Definitions: –Middle Income is defined as earning income between $35,000 and $75,000 –African Americans and whites do not include Hispanic persons –Households are all persons occupying a housing unit and does not require them to be related.
