Conversion Graphs Learning Objective: Be able to use conversion graphs. 27/01/10

Units How many different units can you think of? What is each one used for? We can use conversion graphs to change from one unit into another.

Example: Here is a ruler with a centimetres scale on one side and an inches scale on the other: inches cm

inches cm Imagine snapping the ruler down the middle:

inches cm

inches cm

inches cm

inches cm If we line the two scales up at zero we can draw a conversion graph.

inches cm How many inches is 7cm?

inches cm How many inches is 7cm?

inches cm How many inches is 7cm? 2.8 inches

inches cm How many inches is 5cm?..11cm?..14cm?

inches cm How many inches is 5cm?..11cm?..14cm?

inches cm How many centimetres is 4 inches? 4 inches = ____ cm

inches cm 4 inches = ____ cm
