2 nd Sunday of Advent Christ is coming! As we prepare for our Christmas celebrations we light this second candle as a sign that we are prepared to be the light of Christ, bringing his healing presence to a needy world.

Alleluia, Alleluia Christ is coming. HE IS COMING INDEED, ALLELUIA! And so we gather, +In the name of the Father…

Opening Prayer God, we await your coming every second of every day. Show us how to be thankful like John the Baptist. AMEN

You bring us together to pray in one loving family. Lord have mercy Lord, have mercy. You came to proclaim the Good News to the world. Christ have mercy Christ, have mercy. You came to lead us away from sin. Lord have mercy Lord, have mercy.

Alleluia,

A reading from the Holy Gospel according to St. Luke The Gospel of the Lord Praise to you Lord Jesus Christ Glory to you, O Lord

Alleluia,

Time to reflect on what we have heard in our Gospel today. What did John come to do? Do you know the name of the river where this happened? What does John the Baptist tell us to do to prepare for Jesus’ coming?

As brothers and sisters in one loving family, together let us pray to our Heavenly Father. Lord hear our prayer... The response is sung, Lord hear our prayer... Christ came to proclaim the Good News to the World, may Christians everywhere share his mission and Gospel. Lord hear our prayer. Lord in your mercy, Lord hear our prayer. Christ came to lead us away from sin, may we turn back to God’s loving ways during this season of Advent., Lord hear our prayer. Lord in your mercy, Lord hear our prayer. Christ came to heal the sick, may those who are suffering be comforted by his peace., Lord hear our prayer. Lord in your mercy, Lord hear our prayer. Knowing that our heavenly Father is listening, in the silence of our hearts, let us share our own unspoken prayers with him.

Let us pray together. Loving Father, Through baptism we are reborn to new life as your children. Keep us close to your love as we prepare to celebrate the coming of Christ your beloved Son. We make our prayers through Jesus our Lord Amen

I the Lord of sea and sky... I, the Lord of sea and sky, I have heard My people cry. All who dwell in dark and sin, My hand will save. I who made the stars of night, I will make their darkness bright. Who will bear My light to them? Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord, Is it I, Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of snow and rain, I have borne my people's pain. I have wept for love of them, They turn away. I will break their hearts of stone, Give them hearts for love alone. I will speak My word to them, Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord, Is it I, Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart.

I, the Lord of wind and flame I will tend the poor and lame. I will set a feast for them, My hand will save. Finest bread I will provide, Till their hearts be satisfied. I will give My life to them, Whom shall I send? Here I am Lord, Is it I, Lord? I have heard You calling in the night. I will go Lord, if You lead me. I will hold Your people in my heart.
