Introduction to BYOD For Grades 3-5 ONLY!

Vision The mission of Taylor-White Elementary School is to provide quality instruction and guidance in a safe, nurturing, positive environment with the purpose of creating successful, productive citizens who can make a contribution to the global community.

What is BYOD? BYOD is an acronym for Bring Your Own Device. A “device” is defined as a privately owned laptop, tablet computing device, netbook, notebook, e-Reader, iPod Touch, iPad, or smartphone. For this program, “device” also includes any similar product owned by MCPSS and provided for student use.

When will BYOD begin???? BYOD implementation will begin 2 nd quarter.

Approved Devices iPad Mini, air, iPad: 1 st generation and up Apple iPhone 3Gs and up Android devices with Android Version 2.3 or newer (Kindle, Nook, etc.) Tablets running Windows 8, Laptops **All devices must have headphones.**

Devices Not Allowed Nintendo DS, DSi, PSP, or other portable gaming devices

Consequences for Violations Restriction of device usage or activity (teacher discretion) Principal/parent/teacher/student conference Serious violations will be subject to the MCPSS discipline policy

Parent/Student Responsibilities Return signed BYOD contract Return signed Parent Checklist & Permission to Participate All devices clearly labeled with student name All necessary apps will be loaded by student or parent at home Devices must be charged daily at home before coming to school
