1. Mission The faculty and staff of Pittman Elementary School are committed to providing every student with adequate time, effective teaching, and a positive learning environment. Vision The students at Pittman Elementary School are equipped to compete globally utilizing 21st Century knowledge and skills. It should strengthen a quality teaching and learning in every classroom that provides a rigorous, engaging and relevant education as the right of every student. Innovative technology use that supports teaching and learning is considered critical to achieve the results our students need for success in the 21st century economy. 2. Guiding Principles This plan is built on guiding principles that outline how technology supports the school’s strategic framework and enhances great teaching and learning for all students. Focus on teaching and learning: With this investment, we have an opportunity to do the following:  more actively engage students as participants in their own learning;  deepen student learning and the complexity of connections among subject matter;  provide students with the technology that will prepare them for higher education and careers in the 21st century;  teach students the appropriate use of technology In their role as digital citizens;  close the opportunity gap affecting children’s access to technology Equity: Collaboration: Working with key stakeholders will be critical to the successful implementation of our Digital Learning Plan. The guidance of a Steering Committee with technical expertise and an advisory group that includes teachers, parents, and students will ensure fidelity to research- based best practices as well as alignment with the needs of our community. Implementation: To ensure success, the elements of the Digital Learning Plan are phased in over the course of five years to make the technical elements of the implementation manageable and allow for adequate support for educators in their process of transformation. All staff members will be involved during professional development and professional learning on digital learning opportunities. An explicit representation of stakeholders will also be considered to participate in all scheduled meeting and all other endeavors. Budget: Technology will be a priority to be aligned in the Title I budget and grant applications will also be secured to help defray the expenses of the project.

4. BYOD POLICY USE AT PITTMAN ELEMENTARY Objective: Pittman Elementary School is committed to creating a 21st century learning environment to provide equitable access to technology that will aid our students in becoming self-directed learners, collaborative team players, and information producers as well as information consumers. Responsibility: The parent will provide the device for their children. The classroom teacher or technology person is responsible in keeping the device but the school will not hold responsible for any lost, damaged, stolen or repair of devices. Devices: Smartphones, Ipad, Ipod, Mini Ipad, Tablets, Kindle, Chrome books, Laptops, Mini laptops and other devices. Resources: (Apps Permitted) Apps that are permitted can be found on the next page and other resources required by the teacher. Bring Your Own Device Policy: The student will be allowed to bring their own device provided by their parents as evidenced by parents or guardian consent form strictly for instructional or educational purposes after signing the technology acceptable use agreement. The school will not hold any responsibility for repair, damages, lost or stolen devices occurred during the use of the device at school. All devices must be turned off during instructional time, during testing unless approved for instructional and or educational purposes. Students who will be caught using the device without authorization, device will be confiscated from the student or be returned to the parents after succeeding offense plus disciplinary action will be taken into consideration. 5. Parent and Student Signature Page for Participation in the B.Y.O.D. Initiative Any parent permitting their child to use a personally owned technology device in accordance with this agreement on Pittman Elementary property, must read, sign, and return this agreement to the school. Each student must be scheduled for and complete a required BYOD Orientation workshop prior to bringing their equipment to class. 1.The student is responsible for keeping his or her device in their possession or properly securing it, at all times. School personnel are not responsible for the security or condition of student’s personal devices. 2. The student is responsible for the proper care of personal technology devices, including all maintenance and repair, replacement or modifications, and software updates necessary to effectively use the device. 3. The School reserves the right to confiscate and/or inspect personal technology devices if there is reason to believe that it was used to violate our policies, administrative procedures, school rules, or for general misconduct. 4. Violations may result in the loss of privilege to use personal technology in school, and/or disciplinary and legal action, as appropriate. 5. The student must comply with the teachers’ request to refrain from using a device, verify/display the authentication login screen, or to power down (turn off) the device. 6. The student may not use any devices to record, transmit or post photos or video of a person without their knowledge and consent. Images, video, and audio files recorded at school may not be transmitted or posted at any time, without the expressed permission of a school faculty member. 7. The student should only use personal technology devices with consent and under the direct supervision of a school faculty member. 8. All users are required to utilize the school’s secured wireless network to access the Internet.
